Summary: Really, how could Harry not have known?
Harry had never been good at riddles.
This however was obvious.
I open at the close.
It could not be simpler, but he pretended not to understand it. He shoved his thoughts, his speculations, and the knowledge of what those five little words meant deep into the darkness of the most remote places of his mind.
He shoved down the writhing nausea in his gut, the apprehension, and the dread. He made himself believe that he was ignorant of his end.
Because even though Harry would die for the wizarding world in a heartbeat, it didn’t mean he wanted to.
