Title: Waiting for friends Warning: None Rating: T Words: 230 Summary: Luna'd love to play Quidditch, but she had no friend to play with.
She watched them from afar, stuck on her feet when they were all flying together.
Their laughter and smiles roused a dull pain in her heart.
She had asked to join them, to play with them, to become a member of their team. Of course she could ride a broom by herself, but to do fly alone was different from being surrounded by friends.
Besides, how could she play Quidditch alone?
Yet, they never agreed to let her play with them.
“You don't focus enough.” “You wouldn't understand all the rules.” “Which post would you hold?”
They always had good reasons to prevent her from joining them.
At some point, she had stopped asking. It hurt to seem them all enjoying themselves together, high in the sky, when she was isolated on the ground, but she wouldn't try to go with them any more.
She knew her behaviour and beliefs were their main reasons not to accept her. They thought she'd only be a burden. She could change, she could try to be more concentrated but would she still be herself? No, she'd be somebody else and wouldn't be able to enjoy the game.
So Luna was decided to wait, she'd wait for friends, because friends didn't expect you to change, to play Quidditch, to be the member of a team.
Until then, she'd bear the pain.
