“I think it’s really rotten, what he did to you.”
“You’re a better Chaser is all, Angie. I don’t mind. I’m just glad I made the team at all!”
“Yeah, but as a reserve player? I’d protest if I were you.” Angelina Johnson shot a dirty look over her shoulder at Oliver Wood, who was talking very intently to Charlie Weasley. “Maybe I ought to curse him, make him think twice about not putting you full onto the team –”
Alicia Spinnet sighed and put a hand on her friend’s arm. “Really, Angie, I don’t mind. They’re all leaving Hogwarts after this year – Roberts, I mean, and Smith – so I should be fine to try out again next year.”
“Try out?” Angelina sputtered. “Try out? You’re a shoe-in for the position! We need a Chaser like you! I’ve never seen you miss a single shot you’ve thrown!”
“But I’m no good at dodging.” Alicia smiled at the taller girl. “I’m sure if you spend some extra time helping me practise, I’ll be all ready for when Wood wants to put me in.”
“You bloody better well believe it,” she muttered. “What a surprise he’ll be in for.”
