Title: Bludger to the Face Rating: G Word Count: 194 Warnings: Summary: The aftermath of Katie Bell’s first Quidditch game. - Based on canon!Katie, who gets smashed in the face with a Bludger during her first-ever Quidditch game.
-
When Katie opened her eyes, she was on a soft cot in the hospital wing. Madame Pomfrey was adjusting the curtains around the bed, and when Katie made a noise, the nurse turned around and gave a friendly smile. “Good afternoon, Miss Bell. You have a visitor.” When she pulled back the bed curtains, Katie was surprised to see Oliver Wood in front of her.
“Gryffindor won,” Wood told her by way of greeting, pulling the chair up next to her bed. “How are you feeling?”
Katie started to make a face, but winced and said, “I feel like I’ve been hit in the face with a Bludger.” Both of them laughed a little – Katie with her eyes tearing up – and settled back into a not-quite-awkward silence.
Finally, Wood said, “You’re making a habit out of this, Katie. No more faces full of Quidditch equipment.” She opened her mouth to respond with a quick comeback, but Wood leaned forward, touched his lips to the purpling bruise on her temple, and was gone before she could say anything.
Well, Katie thought, settling back into the pillows. It’s a good thing I don’t fancy Tony anymore!

I adore this It's so Oliver to tell her that Gryffindor won before asking how she is, and I love that it's not an awkward silence.

Edited story to add more to the summary - that this is based off Katie's very first canon Quidditch game, in which she gets hit in the face by a Bludger Thank you, everyone! I have a secret mad crush on Oliver Wood and I'm pretty sure anyone else would, too... I just really like Katie Bell
