Title: Did You Hear...?
Rating: G
Word Count: 299
Warnings: Mentions Character Death
Summary: James is the bearer of bad news.
Oh, Merlin, James thought, a horrified expression contorting his face as he listened to the Wizarding Wireless in his bedroom at the Potter Manor. That’s just horrible!! I wonder if Sirius knows, yet! I’ve got to tell him! He won’t want to hear it from anyone else! James leapt up from his bed, changing his clothes even as he tore out of his room, hopping down the stairs even as he pulled on his pants. Once he was fully dressed, he raced in to the living room and threw a handful of floo powder in to the fireplace. “Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, London!”
He stuck his head in to the fireplace, and it was sucked in to the fireplace of the Black residence. “Mr Black, sir,” James said, addressing Orion Black who sat in the armchair, reading the newspaper. The stern man in question lowered the corner of his newspaper, hard eyes landing on James’ face. A brow rose questioningly. “Is Sirius available, sir? Might I visit him? Please?” Orion nodded his head marginally, and returned to reading the newspaper. James pulled his head out of the fireplace and, then, stepped in to the floo.
A few moments later he was in the living room of the Black residence. “Thank you, sir,” James said briefly as he left the living room, heading up the stairs to Sirius’ bedroom door, on which he knocked. As soon as the door was opened he stepped inside, saying, “Sirius! Did you hear what happened to Fabius Watkins, the Captain and Chaser of the Montrose Magpies, this morning?!”
Sirius gave him a blank look. “No..?”
“He was involved in a freak accident!!! He collided with a Muggle Helicopter!!!”
Sirius paled instantly. He had been a fan of the Magpies ever since he was five.
