Title: Minerva McGonagall and the Curse of the Obsessive Prefect Part 6 Rating: G Word Count: 246 Warnings: Summary: Minerva's Prefect Problems continue!
-
On Saturday morning, just after breakfast, Minerva made her way to the Quidditch pitch. She was startled by the number of students in green and silver robes milling around the field – she hadn’t realised a spot on their team was so coveted – and wandered up the stands to sit, propping her elbows on her legs and resting her head in her hands. It was a decent view from high up, but she had trouble distinguishing a particular head of hair.
The team’s captain lifted a whistle to his lips and at the shrill noise, the students quieted. One by one, they separated into four groups – those trying out for each available part of the team – and finally Minerva caught sight of Tom Riddle. He wasn’t looking at her and so she fixed her eyes on his head, scarcely letting her vision wander as student after student dodged and ducked and dived around the regular team.
She didn’t really know what to expect. As far as she knew, Riddle had probably never been on a broom for longer than a few seconds at a time. She’d fallen into flying as easily as breathing, but she knew from experience that not everyone reacted the same.
When it was finally his turn to fly, he straddled the broom, looked straight up into her eyes, and winked. With a gasp, Minerva almost fell back off the bench, but he wasn’t looking – already he was lifting up, up into the air.
