Summary: Young Gilderoy Lockhart makes the Ravenclaw quidditch team.
A/N: This is written under the assumption that Lockhart had an abusive childhood, consistent with, but independent of, my fic written for the MC challenge, posted here.
His name was on the list. He blinked and squinted and shook his head. No matter how he looked at it, his name was still on the list. Others elbowed and pushed at him, but Gilderoy couldn’t manage to tear his eyes away from the little slip of paper. Relief flooded through him and his heart raced. His life would surely be different now. Better.
The quidditch team. He was on the quidditch team. He couldn’t wait to tell his mother. She would see that he really did try to make the team those other years. She would know that he had been practicing. Maybe she would even be proud of him.
He had never been so excited to go home for the holidays.
