Title: Proving Myself
Rating: PG
Warning: None
Words: 286
Summary: Severus feels like he has something to prove...
He plummeted to the ground, hitting hard and sliding several feet until he came to stop in an undignified heap. He swore, spitting out mouthfuls of dirt and grass. He pushed himself up, straddled the broom, and kicked off. Soaring twenty feet in the air he began his search again, looking for the tiny winged ball that continued to make a fool of him.
"Sev?"
He looked down, knowing who it was before he even saw her. He flew down, making an almost passable landing and mangaing not to fall on his face in front of her.
"What are you doing?"
His face burned. He knew she had seen his early crash. "What does it look like?" He snapped and than immediately regretted his harsh words. But Lily didn't seem to notice.
"You don't have to do this you know." She said.
He clenched his hands on the broom stick to stop them from shaking, "Yes I do!" He yelled, "I have to... I have to... I have to prove I can do it!"
He swung his leg over the broom handle and was about to kick off again when she grabbed his arm.
"You don't need to prove yourself to me Sev." She said softly.
He met her eyes, green met black, and he dismounted.
"Come on." She said, holding out her hand, "I'll take you to the Hospital Wing, your nose is blleding, did you know that?"
He touched his nose with his fingers and found she was right. He hadn't even noticed. With his other hand he took the offered hand and let her lead him up to the castle.
