Title: Reasons (III) Rating: PG Word Count: 222 Warnings: none. Summary: James makes a private list.
Five Things Lily Evans Should Know About James Potter
1. He plays quidditch as a way to escape the stress generated by school and prospects of the future. His favourite part of the game takes place in the Gryffindor common room during the post-game celebrations, when he is surrounded by his merry friends.
2. He surrounds himself with friends that he would die for. He is extremely loyal, and expects the same in return.
3. He is very compassionate. His heart aches for the family dog which was not allowed to come with him to Hogwarts, and he can’t begin to imagine the great amount of love he will feel for his own child.
4. He has ambitions to become an auror, not because of his aptitude for Defence Against the Dark Arts, but because he thinks he might be able to save lives.
5. Sometimes he feels insecure. He gets nervous before each quidditch match, because he doesn’t want to let the house down. He’s embarrassed at every potions class, although he would never admit it at the time. And every time he thinks about Lily Evans, he gets butterflies in his stomach.

James missed the mark on the third one. If he was the least bit compassionate, he wouldn't make it his life's goal to torment the vulnerable Severus Snape at school.
