Dear Tuney,
You’ll never believe what just happened! There’s a great big lake beside the train station in the little village and the school... and it’s not even really a school, it’s a HUGE CASTLE! They put us inside these really tiny little boats and we had to go across the lake! The bigger kids got to go in carriages and they kept bragging about it, but I think that carriages are too bumpy especially because there isn’t a concrete road to go down.
It was so so so much fun! Only me and Sev got stuck in a boat with a boy named James who made fun of my hair, and he told me that people with red hair weren’t allowed to go to school here, and Sev got really mad and said he was going to push him into the lake! I thought James was going to push Sev instead, he got in his face and everything, but the other boy on our boat named Remus told James he better just calm down. I kind of like Remus!
The castle is sooo big, I can’t even believe it!! And guess what else? I SAW A GHOST! I’m not even joking with you, Tuny! A real live ghost! Only he obviously was dead.
I have to go now, though! Sev says I have to get in line because a professor is going to come and take us into the Great Hall so we can be Sorted into our Houses! I really hope I’m in the same House as Sev... and I really hope I’m not in the same House as that wicked boy James.
Love you!
Lily
