Title: Gratitude Rating: G Word count: 134 Warnings: none. Summary: Lupin writes a farewell to Snape, write after Lupin resigns from being a DADA professor.
Severus,
Despite our inherent differences, I find myself in a position that requires a formal expression of gratitude. I know that there are scars that run too deeply to be covered by common allegiance. Although we are, for larger purposes, on the same side, that does not make us friends.
I know my condition has leaked over the school, and I am placing blame on nobody. The information would have gotten out eventually. So, whether you want this or not, I forgive you for that.
And I also wish to thank you for brewing my potion throughout the school year to keep me healthy. It was difficult and time-consuming, and I couldn’t have kept up my position without it. It was exceptionally remarkable, considering your suspicions about me regarding Harry’s safety.
Take care,
Remus

The relationship between Lupin and Snape is so vague in cannon, you've expanded upon it wonderfully.

I like this fic a lot! It shows how sweet and forgiving Remus is, and really expands the relationship between Remus and Severus. Great writing!

You've chosen some excellent moments to explore - I love what you've done with Remus, making him (as always) responsible and mature enough not to lay blame. Gorgeous!
