"Hurry up, Love!" James Potter called, fixing his four month old son's tie. "People will be here soon."
"One more minute!" Lily called back from their bedroom.
James grinned at his son fondly. "You're going to be a lady-killer when you're older, son, just like your Daddy."
He heard someone scoff behind him and turned to see his best mates standing there, his front door wide open behind them.
"You? A lady-killer? Please." Sirius rolled his Gray eyes.
"Oh, hey," James said, ignoring his snide remark. "It's about time you lot showed up. Please, make yourselves at home," he gestured around his home sarcastically.
"Like we need the invitation," Remus said, flipping through one of Lily's many overflowing bookshelves.
"And, just so you know," Sirius said, reaching out for Harry, who all but jumped into his Godfather's arms. "I was always much more of a lady-killer than you."
Now it was James's turn to scoff. "Please. Who's the one married? Who's the one with a kid?"
"Right now, me!" Sirius said, gesturing towards Harry, who was in his arms.
"You know what I mean!" James snapped, taking Harry from him. "Now I've got the kid. HA!"
Sirius rolled his eyes. "Who's the one with a different girl every weekend? Who? That's right, this guy!" he pointed both his thumbs at himself and stuck his tongue out at James.
"And who's the one being immature? Who? That's right, both of you."
They both turned to Lily, opening their mouths to retort, but stopping short at the sight of her. They both gawked at her for awhile. She looked beautiful in her knee-length, floaty green dress. Her hair fell down her back in soft curls, framing her face brilliantly.
James was the first to say something.
"You look nice," he said, then scowled at himself.
Lily rolled her eyes. Remus chuckled, smacking both James and Sirius on the back of the head as he passed on his way to hug Lily.
"You look beautiful, Lily," he said kindly.
"Thanks," she smiled at him. "You look quite spiffy, yourself."
"Why, thank you," he said, popping the collar on his suit jacket and winking at her playfully.
Lily giggled, ruffling his hair before going to take her son from her husband.
"You look so handsome, baby," Lily cooed, kissing Harry's face all over, making him giggle.
"What about me?" Sirius pouted.
"You look adorable, Sirius," she said, kissing his cheek. "You too, Pete," she said, hugging the smaller man.
"And me?" James asked, grinning cockily as he straightened his tie.
Lily looked him over slowly. "Hmm . . . you look nice," she said with a smirk, before walking into the Kitchen to check on supper.
James groaned.
"It's almost like you stick your foot in your mouth on purpose," Remus commented, smirking like every Marauder can.
"Shove off, Remus," James said.
Remus was about to respond, but was interrupted by a knock at the door.
"That's the Weasley's," James said, stopping on his way to the door and turning to his friends. "Don't do anything embarrassing. This is a possible friend for Harry, we don't want to scare them away."
All three men stared at him, shocked.
"Us? Embarrassing?" Sirius asked, hand over his heart.
"Never!" Peter said, shaking his head in disbelief. "I can't believe you would even think that!"
James groaned, turning back towards the door. "I know I shouldn't have invited you lot."
oOoOoOo
"Charlie, no! You can't eat that."
"Harry, please stop crying."
"Fred! George! Don't do that, it's not going to explode no matter how much you punch it."
Both boys groaned in disappointment.
"Sirius, get off the table!"
Sirius glared at Lily. "I will sit on the table if I wish, Lilykins. Huh! You act like you own the place."
"I do own the place, Sirius," Lily sighed, exasperated.
"You and James own it," he said, as if that meant he won. "and James won't ever tell me to get off the table."
"Sirius, mate, get off the table."
"JAMES! Some friend you are," Sirius said, hopping off the table and pulling a face at the smirking Lily.
"I'm so sorry about this," Molly said, collapsing in the chair next to Lily and the screaming Harry.
Lily waved a hand at her, "It's alright, Molly. I spend almost all my time with those four," she jerked her thumb at the Marauders, who were all huddled in a circle with Fred and George. "So I'm used to mayhem."
Molly smiled sympathetically at her. "Would you like me to try?" she offered, holding her hands out to Harry, "after so many kids, I've got quite good at calming them."
Lily smiled gratefully, handing her her screaming child. "That would be wonderful if you could."
As Harry's screams quieted, she looked around the room, her eyes narrowing at the sight of her husband, his best mates and Fred and George all standing in the corner, all of them looking particularly mischievous. She got up and walked over to them.
"What are you lot planning?" she asked, her arms folded across her chest. "because I will not have my Christmas Eve ruined. Plus Molly's just got the babies to sleep," she indicated the pregnant woman, who had just rocked Harry to sleep, Ron in the small crib next to her. "She's bloody amazing."
James gave her a look, "Please, Lily, don't swear in front of the children," he tsked at her. "And we're not planning anything. We'll be good, I promise."
Lily, who was about to answer, was interrupted by a ding in the Kitchen. "Oh!" she said, walking quickly out of the room. "That'll be the roast beef."
Ten minutes later, the meal was set and everybody was digging in hungrily. Bill, Charlie and Percy were all chatting away happily with their parents and Lily, while Harry and Ron were tucked into small cribs, fast asleep, near the table. The Marauders and Fred and George were talking in whispers, all off them looking around excitedly.
"Lily," Arthur said, turning towards her excitedly, "you must tell me all about Muggle contraptions."
Lily stared at him in shock. Not because of what he said, but because his voice had become all high and squeaky, like he had just taken a big breath of helium, and he didn't even seem to notice!
"What happened to your voice?" Lily asked, making everyone laugh. "What? What is it?"
"What happened to my voice?" Arthur repeated in his squeaky tone, "You're voice is hysterical! You sound like a dragon!"
"A what?" Lily repeated, in her very low voice. Lily noticed that the Marauders and Fred and George looked particularly entertained and turned her glare on them. "Boys, what is going on here?" she exclaimed, making Harry wake up and cry. "Oh, no, it's okay, baby," she said, but her voice was so strange she scared Harry, making him scream louder and wake Ron.
"Let me take him, sweetie," James said, tears in his eyes, "You're going to scare him."
"I'm going to scare you if you don't stop this!" Lily snapped, but her voice was so funny no one was intimidated.
Fred and George giggled madly, tears running down their faces.
"Mrs. Potter, you sound funny!" Fred (or George, Lily never really could tell them apart) said, grinning at her hugely.
"Thank you," she smirked, pulling a face. "But you can call me Lily," she gave James a sideways glance, "I don't like to be called Mrs. Potter when I'm not so happy with Mr. Potter."
James shrugged, "You're the one who married me."
Lily glared at him, "Don't remind me."
Arthur was now singing a song for his children, not at all ruffled by his high voice.
Sirius shoved Lily's shoulder, making her turn to him. "What, Sirius?"
Sirius tried to hold in his laughter, but failed. After he controlled himself, he said, "Wanna know a secret?"
"Not particularly."
"But I know who did this to you," Sirius said, his eyes twinkling and a smirk playing at his lips. "And I can tell you if you do something for me."
Lily pursued her lips. "Before I make up my mind, what do I have to do?"
Sirius shrugged. "I dunno. I was just thinking if I ever need someone to do something for me, or help me with something, I'll just ask you and you'll have to do it."
Lily stared at him for a long time. She didn't really want to say yes, because who would want to be in Sirius' debt? But, on the other hand, if she never found out who did this to her, she would never be able to get her revenge.
"Alright," she finally decided, "You've got yourself a deal. Who did it?"
He got real close to her ear and whispered quietly, "Remus."
Lily's mouth popped open, her eyes went wide. Sirius nodded his head at her, "I know, shocking, right? And people always think he's the good one! Huh!"
"Why are you telling me this?" Lily asked, narrowing her eyes.
Sirius looked at her like it was obvious. "Because I'm sick of him never getting any revenge taken out on him! If I didn't tell you it was him, we would all have to suffer, but now you can torture the one where blame lies. I refuse to help out my best mate again, I've been hurt too many times these eight years we've known each other, and it's just because he's so darn clever," he glared at Remus, who was sitting in his chair, laughing innocently, angrily. "No longer will I take the blame for you, Remus! Ha!"
Remus turned to face Sirius, looking amused. "Did you say something to me, Sirius?"
Sirius grinned at him, "Nope, I was just having a nice chat with Lilykins."
Lily rolled her eyes. "Can someone change my voice back now?"
oOoOoOo
An hour later, everyones voice had been changed back (all the Weasley boys had wanted their voices change, too, and Remus was only too happy to oblige), and the Weasley's were on their way out the door.
"Thank you for a wonderful evening," Molly said, hugging Lily fondly. "We'll have to do this again soon."
Lily smiled broadly, "Of course. Anytime would be fine."
Arthur shook hands with all the boys, and gave Lily a hug.
"I had a great time," he smiled.
"I'm glad," James grinned, putting his arm around Lily. "Us, too."
They all smiled and parted.
As soon as they were gone, Lily huffed loudly, turning towards the stairs. "I'm going to put Harry to bed."
"Would you like some help?" James offered, but she shook her head.
"I've got it, James, he's already sleeping."
"Didn't you have a nice time tonight, Lily?" Sirius asked, raising his eyebrows and smiling.
"Huh! Yeah, sure. I hate Christmas," Lily sighed, her voice officially back to normal as she walked up the stairs.
She had to plot her revenge on Remus. And this would take some thought.
