Title: The Unsortable Student
Rating: PG
Word Count: 523
Warnings: So, so, very bad. Ye have been warned. Enter with caution and at your own risk.
Summary: Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King is a newly transferred Hogwarts student whose appearance has split the school along gender lines.
A/N: It was kind of ... freeing ... to write such crap intentionaly.
She was the talk of the entire school. The she in question was Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King, a drop dead gorgeous, brilliant, part - Veela, American transfer student. Half the boys had crushes on her, the other half were hopelessly in love. The girls were nearly universally jealous of her beauty and brains. A few were in the boy’s camp, struck by her gorgeousness, and all the rest wanted to be the young Aphrodite’s friend. While rumors and tales about her had been flying around about her all day, she sat calmly at the Hufflepuff table (it was traditional for unsorted Hogwarts students, to sit with the welcoming and loyal house), ignoring the prying looks and whispers of the other students.
Dumbledore had more trouble than usual in gaining the attention of his students - they were far too distracted by Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King and her stunning attractiveness. When he finally managed to quiet them, he said, “As many of you have noticed, we have a new student in our midst. Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King attended the Salem Institute of Magic, and upon the tragic death of her parents by the hands of Lord Voldemort, it was decided that she would be safer, and better cared for here. She will be sorted now. If you will come here Ms. Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King?”
There was an overpowering round of clapping, only ceasing when Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King reached the front of the room and placed the sorting hat upon her golden, perfect hair. For several minutes there was a tense silence as each boy prayed to whatever deity they believed in that the girl would be in his particular house so that he might have a chance of being friends with her - all of them knew that they were unworthy of her affections, but hoped that they might serve as her servant. The whispers that had been silenced by curiosity and hope were revived when the ten minute mark was passed, and by the time Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King had been sitting there for twenty minutes, even the most polite of Hogwarts students had joined into the chatter, and the Great Hall was full of the din of several hundred curious young witches and wizards.
When, finally, after a whole thirty minutes (more than any other witch or wizard had ever spent being sorted, outstripping Henry Baker in 1923 whose sorting lasted seven minutes) the sorting hat opened it's mouth to speak, and dead silence overtook the students almost instantly, as they listened intently to the Hat's words. It said, "I cannot sort this girl. She is the epitome of all the houses values. She simply cannot be pinholed into one catagory. Therefore, I declare that there will be a new house! The Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King house, which will only ever have one member!"
Dumbledore agreed with the hat that this was most certainly the only possible way to deal with the current situation. And so, the Diamanda Jasmine Emerald Ravenwing Sul’er King house was born.
