Title: Discrimination Rating: G House: Hufflepuff Word Count: 238 Warnings: None Summary: Helga reflects on her fellow founders.
Helga Hufflepuff was many things; however prejudice was not one of them. Her fellow founders were many things, and yes, prejudice was one of them. Salazar Slytherin was at least open about his discrimination; he thought those that were not pure of blood were unworthy.
Godric and Rowena on the other hand were far less open about it. Well, to be fair they didn’t consider themselves prejudice, but Helga knew better. After all, what else would you call excluding children from your House based on certain qualities? For Godric it was bravery, he would only take the bravest students. For Rowena it was intelligence, she turned away anyone that didn’t meet her high standards.
So obviously, in Helga’s mind at least, they were then discriminating against all the students that did not posses these qualities. Helga prided herself on not discriminating against anyone, so she took the rest of the students into her House. The left overs, the ones that were seen as not being good enough to fit in anywhere else. She taught them the value of hard work, and loyalty
As the years, decades, and centuries went by Hufflepuff never was the House with the most glory. However, she was proud of her House and her students regardless. As long as they tried their best in everything they did, and remained loyal to the things they believed in then she knew she had done her job.

That's brilliant and really explores "what exactly a true Hufflepuff is anyway". I loved how you used Helga Hufflepuff to tell the story and how you really show how proud she feels of her house. Great job Zoe!

It - almost - makes me want to join Hufflepuff because you make its seem to be a very welcoming House LOL. *almost* I love this perspective on this house; actually, it kind of makes me wonder why Hufflepuff is so under-appreciated... probably because we just don't hear much about the Hufflepuffs in the books. You just made me a little more open-minded, Zoe.
