Title: Sisters
Challenge: Minor Character
Rating: G
Word Count:
Summary: Pavarti and Padma had never been apart... until they came to Hogwarts.
Never in their entire lives had they been apart. Two letters had arrived from Hogwarts, two girls had boarded the train, and two nervous First Years had entered the Great Hall together. Neither of them had expected they would be anything but together.
When the Sorting had began Padma had been called first. The Hat had been placed on her head and announced Ravenclaw. Padma had grinned at her twin before hurrying to the Ravenclaw table. She had saved a seat for her sister.
But when the hat had been placed on Pavarti's head, the wide brim slipping down to cover her eyes, the Hat did not call out Ravenclaw.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Pavarti's jaw had dropped as the deafening applause had erupted from the Gryffindor table. The Hat was lifted from her head and her eyes met her sister's, her twin wore a look of pure horror.
* * *
Now it was weeks into their First Year, and Pavarti stood outside the portrait hole of the Fat Lady trying to console her sister who had come to Gryffindor Tower and demanded to see her sister, nearly hysterical over Pavart's apparent new best friend- Lavender Brown.
Padma's eyes were full of tears. "You spend all your time with her. You're always together in the corriodrs. You sit next to her at the Great Hall-"
"We have to sit with our Houses!" Pavarti interjected, feeling that the last part at least was unfair.
"I'm supposed to be your bestfriend!" Padma cried furiously, "I'm your sister!"
Now Pavarti's eyes filled with tears. "You are-" But Padma wouldn't let her finish.
"You have to ask to be transfered to Ravenclaw." Padma said, thin dark brows knit down in a frown.
"I can't!"
"You have to!"
"It's never been done!"
"You have to!"
"I CAN'T!"
The twins stood facing one another, tears funning down both their cheeks now.
"I can't change Houses. I belong to Gryffindor." Pavarti said
finally.
Padma "But we're sisters!"
Pavarti reached out and took one of her sister's hands, splaying out their hands so their palmsfinger tips were pressed together, then linked their fingers.
"And we always will be."
