The clawfoot tub had been filled with steaming water and scented with calming chamomile. She had soaked for nearly and scrubbed every inch and every pore of her body. She'd washed and rinsed her hair her long blond hair. Now she rose gracefully from the water, wrapped herslef in a silk robed, and sat at her armoire.
Lord Voldemort did not care for physical bueaty, but he did care to know the woman who came to his bed had put effort into making themselves beautiful for him. So she would be sure to take the upmost care. Her family did not need anymore disfavor placed upon them.
Slowly she combed out her her hair allowing it to hang loose to dry as she applied a ivory powder to her face, red paint to her lips, and black to her eyelashes.
Her sister Bellatrix watched silently. The expression on her face nearly impossible to read though Narcissa suspected it may be jealousy.
When her hair was dry her sister rose and began to plait it like she had when they had been children.
"It is an honour." She said, sounding very much like a mother reprimanding her child.
Naricissa stared straight ahead. She wouldn't say anything. When had she stopped trusting her sister?
"Vows between a husband and wife mean nothing when it comes to the Dark Lord." Bellatrix continued, "You are not betraying him, it is his honour too to share."
Remembering the look in Lucius' eyes when their Lord had announced she would be the one to come to his bed tonight she doubted Lucius saw it as any kind of honour.
"Being with him is like being with no other-"
Narcissa rose before her sister could say more. She couldn't bear to hear more.
She walked the corriors alone. Lucius could not face escourting her, as some husbands did. She didn't begrudge him for it, she would rather he not witness it.
She stopped before the double doors that had the entwining serpents and knocked.
It was a moment before a raspy voice answered her knock. "Come in Narcissa and close the door behind you."
