Title: The Sorting!
Rating: PG
Word Count: 549
Warnings (if any): None needed.. I think?
Summary: Albus Severus Potter is about to be sorted. To what house does he truly belong?
"Potter, Albus!" Called Professor Neville Longbottom. With a slight hesitation, Albus walked to the Sorting Hat. Fear mounting higher and higher with every step he took. He couldn't help but think he shouldn't be there, that something was wrong. Hogwarts must have made a mistake. Maybe he, Albus, should back out now? But, he couldn't. How could he? He had to live up to his name.
His father, always told Albus, that he had gained the name of two of the greatest wizards to have ever lived. Albus believed his father was mistaken. Albus believed he had gained the name of three of the greatest wizards to have ever lived. Those being: Albus Dumbledore, defeater of Grindelwald and the best Headmaster Hogwarts had ever had. Severus Snape, Potions Master and spy against Lord Voldemort and finally, Harry Potter, his father. Albus knew about some of his father's past, more than the public but less than those of his family who had lived through it. His father was the Man-Who-Lived-Twice, youngest ever Head Auror, Defeater of Voldemort, his father is considered to be the next Dumbledore, the icon of the light. Harry Potter is the man Albus would do anything for, not because he was his father, but because of how much he believed in him.
Finally, Albus sat on the stool, and the Sorting Hat was placed on his head. Hmm. Difficult, very difficult. Much like your father, I see. A voice whispered in his head. Yes, plenty of courage, a nice thirst to prove yourself. Very much like your father. Definitely not a bad mind and loyal too. But where to put you? Albus scrunched up his face and thought Not Slytherin. Not Slytherin. He remembered what his father said, but he really didn't want to be in Slytherin. Not Slytherin eh? Are you sure? It's all here in your head and Slytherin will help you on your way to greatness. Albus was starting to get frightened, his father must have been wrong, but how? It worked for him hadn't it? Well, if you're sure? Better be.."HUFFLEPUFF!", The hall was dead silent.
Then suddenly the hall erupted into a volcanic applause. Hufflepuff being heard above the other three houses. Proud to be getting the second son of Harry Potter. The Gryffindor's cheering because Albus didn't go in Slytherin making up for their disappointment that he didn't join their house. The Ravenclaw's, happy for their fellow house and the Slytherin's because they didn't want another Potter in Gryffindor.
In years to come, Albus would become the best Transfiguration Professor and later the youngest and longest Headmaster in the history of the wizarding world. He would later also be considered the greatest wizard of his time along with his father and namesake. During the course of his life, before dying at the age of 130. Albus survived two wizarding wars, unfortunately having had to kill his own brother, James Sirius Potter, who had become the next dark lord. He proved on many occasions that Hufflepuff house is not for 'duffers'. But that... is a story for another time.
