Summary: Petunia finds her old Diary.
Dear Diary,
I think there is something wrong with Lily. I’ve noticed that lately strange things happen when she is around, odd things. Things that aren’t normal. Things that shouldn’t happen. I’m worried for her; does this mean that there is something wrong with her? It’s starting to scare me. I shouldn’t be scared, she’s my sister. But I am. Maybe I’m a coward.
Petunia Evans.
Dear Diary,
Lily and I met a horrid boy today. He was rude, and mean to me. He seemed to like Lily well enough, but she didn’t like him very much. He was strange, strange the way Lily is. I’m worried, what if he makes her worse? It’s like there is an illness they both share, and I’m worried he will infect her further. She’s my sister; I just don’t want anything to happen to her.
Petunia Evans.
Dear Diary,
I am so mad at her! She befriended that horrible boy! He’s not good for her, his clothes are dirty and his hair clearly needs washing. But more than that he’s a bad influence on her! He’s filling her head with strange ideas, dangerous ideas. She says that he didn’t mean to be rude to me before, but I think he meant every word. He’s always scowling at me when her back is turned. Yesterday he called me a muggle. I’m not sure what it means, but he clearly thought it was an insult.
Petunia Evans.
Dear Diary,
It just keeps getting worse. Now Lily is trying to make abnormal things happen! She’s been practicing with that Snape boy. She’s becoming more like him. I feel like I’m losing my only sister. I don’t have any proper friends, what am I to do without her?
Petunia Evans
Dear Diary,
Lily isn’t the same anymore. She doesn’t have time for me anymore, and when we are together she’s constantly sighing and rolling her eyes, as if I’m a big chore for her. She prefers to spend all her time with that Snape boy, and I like her even less when they are together. The pick on me, put frogs in my bed and make fun of me. Lily never used to do that to me, I don’t like the new Lily.
Petunia Evans
Dear Diary,
Today I got asked out, by a boy! For the first time! Lily may spend her time with Snape, but she’s never been asked out on a real date. I really like him too, his name is Vernon and he is the most popular boy in my class. We’re going to go out next week.
Petunia Evans
Dear Diary,
I don’t even know where to begin. A woman brought a letter for Lily today, she’s a witch. A witch! Mum and Dad were so pleased, they don’t care that it means that I’ll never get to see her. They don’t care that it means she’s going to leave us to share a world with the likes of Snape! Snape who has made her into a mere shadow of her former self! She used to love me; she used to be nice to me. Now because of HIM and MAGIC she is none of those things. Mum and Dad are so proud of her, they don’t care that she spends her time playing magic tricks on me, so long as they have a witch in the family. I hate them, I hate her, and I hate magic!
Petunia Evans
Dear Diary,
Life is so much more peaceful now that Lily isn’t here. I don’t have to check my shampoo before I use it, or worry about what Lily and Snape will make fun of me for today. I do miss her though; I miss how she used to be. Maybe if there was a way I could be more like her she would be nicer to me. Maybe she would notice me if I went to her school and could do the things that she does. Maybe.
Petunia Evans
Dear Diary,
I can’t be like Lily. I’ll never have my sister back. It’s just not possible. Because I’m a “muggle.” Because I’m normal and she is a… a… Freak!
