Title: Dear Diary
Rating: PG
Word Count: 324
Summary: Ginny makes a new friend.
Dear Diary
It's my first day at school and already things are off to a rotten start. This morning a Howler arrived for Ron at breakfast (he and Harry stole Dad's car I still can't believe it!). Even though it was Ron's Howler Colin Creevey, a boy in my year, turned to me and said, "Isn't that your brother?" It was mortifying!
Next was transfiguration class and when I pulled out my book the entire cover came off and the book slammed to the ground. Professor McGonagall gave me some spello-tape and told me to mend the book before next class. I hurried back to my desk trying to hide my face but I could clearly see the disdainful look one girl gave me and my shabby book.
After Transfiguration was potions and I had only just sat down at my desk when Professor Snape swooped down on me and told me I had better be nothing like my brother whom, he added, should have been on the Hogwarts Express home along with Harry. The Slytherins of course found this hysterical and spent the entire class giggling and whispering behind their hands whenever they glanced at me. He said Harry's name with such malice, I can't believe anyone could hate Harry Potter! I mean he's Harry Potter! The Boy Who Lived! He defeated You-Know-Who!
It's been such a wretched day. I've waited my entire life to come to Hogwarts and now it's nothing like I expected.
The first days are always the hardest. Things will get better once you settle in.
Who's this?!
My name is Tom. What's your name?
Ginny.
Well Ginny don't worry. I remember my first few days at Hogwarts, everything was seemed so daunting, but things got better as I got used to it.
You were at Hogwarts?
Yes, a long time ago. But tell me more about you. Who is the Harry Potter you mentioned and who is "You-Know'Who"?
