I've been thinking about this a lot lately beacuse of the HP fandom in general. Canon pairings. Some people love them, some hate them. Some love certain pairing and hate others. And a whole lot of people get really worked up over it.
My question is this, what is your opinion of canon pairings? Do you hate or love them? Both? Only certain ones? Which Fanon pairings do you like? Why? And most importantly, JKR wrote the series and she chose the pairings. So when you dislike a pairing are you saying that she was wrong? Is it possible for an author to get her own characters wrong? Or do you just like exploring other possiblities? What is your opinion?

Well personally I am a Harmony fan as it is the first pairing that I started reading in fanfiction and it did change my perception about the canon pairings.
For me seeing Harry with Ginny and Hermione with Ron is pretty disturbing. I think that Harry and Hermione complement each other rather well. Much better than the canon pairings.
To be fair to JKR she did admit to being rubbish at writing romance and to me it seemed that she did not have any proper plan when writing out the romance.

I'm a really big Dramione shipper. They're my absolute favorite Fanon pairing. I just can't picture Ron and Hermione romantically together, it really just throws me, but Draco and Hermione I could totally picture getting together. All that tension between them could totally explode into a relationship.
Ginny and Harry I don't really mind, their pretty cute. I've tried to read different Harmony stories, but I've yet to find one that I can really get into.
I think this would be under fanon pairings, but I'm a Rose/Scorpius fan, as well. The books don't say anything about them getting together (because they're in first year when they end), but I've always kind of pictured that was how it would turn out...

I'm also a big Scorpius/Rose fan, some fanfictions about them are simply awesome.
I can picture Hermione with Draco or Fred, even George (I have tried my hand with those couples) but with Harry or Ron, nothing comes up, and I've never found a fanfiction about those pairings to change my mind. To me it'd have felt right if Ron and Hermione had simply remained friends.

I dislike some of the canon pairings (namely Hinny, Romione and Jily) and like others (Bleur, Remadora, Lucissa, Marthur). However my preferred pairings are typically non-canon (Snarry and Wolfstar, for example)...but...I always felt they would happen when reading the books, even at that age. I was sorely disappointed and felt like I was being mislead.
I do believe that an author can get things wrong, simply because a character has decided not to tell them something. It happens to me all the time; sometimes I don't learn things about my characters until much, much later and then I'm like "Well...I got that wrong. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD"

I am a huge fan of Fandom parings (Darry, Snilly, Wolfstar, LM/HG, and SS/HG) just to name a few.
I don't hate cannon parings I just seem to not be able to write them when working on my fanfiction work.

I love a weird combination of canon and fanon pairings. And shipping is like life or death for me I'm so possessive lol. My favorites are Dramione, Sirius/Hermione (that ones a bit odd, I know) Lily/James, Tonks/Remus, Harry/Ginny and Narcissa/Lucius. I'm probably forgetting some. So I guess I like some canon pairing, but others I hate (like Ron/Hermione ugh). It just depends on what clicks with me when I'm reading. Fanfiction also converted me. Like I had no problem with Ron and Hermione until I read my first Dramione. haha

I don't get Romione. It simply doesn't makes sense to me that Hermione would marry him. Sure, it can be a cute school fling. But I simply can't see how they could stay committed to each other. They are cute, but simply aren't suited for the long run. That's why I like Dramione. They are different enough to keep each other interested in the long run. But the way they think is so similar, they won't have any real bad arguments. I love Ginny, I really do. And I'm no Harry fan. He's just so thick! As a student he hardly has any work ethic. And he makes the stupidest choices. Ginny is an intelligent strong girl. She shouldn't have to put up with Harry. Sure Harry makes a good protagonist, good morals and an inexplicable ability to get himself into all sorts of trouble. I don't know who Ginny should be with, that's up to her I guess. I suppose she just sprung for the boy-who-lived too quickly. After hearing what I think a Harry, it should be no surprise that I don't think James is the best character. He's a huge bully, and I am unimpressed with Lily for choosing him over Severus. Although I know she never liked him in any way besides a platonic manner. It could never happen although I like to pretend.
